Here are 3 of the top interesting Japanese gadgets in the past year:

Emergency Disaster Vehicle

With threats of natural and supernatural disasters following human beings nowadays, there’s no wondering what the future holds for the human population. But, whatever happens in the future, your safety can be guaranteed in the EDV-01, an emergency disaster vehicle created by Japanese home builder Daiwa House. This container is very efficient as it can be readily-used with just a touch of a button, not to mention that it can be easily transported. This 10-ton emergency shelter can be easily attached on the back of a truck, freighter, or latched on the bottom of a chopper.

EDV-01 has everything you might need in case of an emergency as well. It makes use of solar panels and has a battery and fuel cell. The shelter has 2 floors, a bathroom with shower, kitchen with refrigerator, beds, and LED lights.

Thermo Mirror

When you’re sick and too lazy to get out of bed and check your temperature using a thermometer every now and then, then the Thermo Mirror will definitely suit you. From a subsidiary of the Japanese electronics company NEC, NEC Avio presents the Thermo Mirror – a mirror that is designed to read a person’s body temperature without having to touch the device. It can record your body temperature even from a foot away and an alarm goes off when your temperature is above normal. When it’s not used to detect body temperature, it displays different information such as date, time, and weather.

Underwater USB camera

Rather than buying disposable underwater cameras for each trip to the beach, there is now a portable USB camera that could save you a lot of money. This USB camera is very convenient as it only weighs 22g and already has 4GB worth of memory and VGA (736 x 480) resolution at 20 fps.  It is also capable of capturing videos, which are stored as AVI files. The USB 2.0 interface would easily allow you to transfer the pictures and videos captured to your computer at the end of the day. This camera is produced by Thanko, and is compatiblewith Windows OS.
